Privacy Policy

Quilta is made by Jomon George ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the Quilta app.

The short version: Quilta has no accounts. Your photos and your projects stay on your device. We do not receive them, and we could not look at them if we wanted to. The server we do run holds nothing but the template catalogue the app downloads from.

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you. There is no sign-up, no login, and no profile. We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, or location, and we operate no server that your photos or projects are sent to.

The two exceptions are crash diagnostics and — only if you switch them on — usage analytics. Both are described under "Diagnostics and analytics" below, and neither carries your content or your identity.

Your photos

When you add a photo, you choose it through your device's own photo picker. Quilta copies the photos you select into its private storage on your device so it can edit and re-open them later. Those copies never leave your device unless you send them somewhere yourself.

Quilta does not read your photo library in the background and does not scan photos you have not chosen.

Your projects

Grids, carousels, layouts, text and edit history are saved in a database and a folder that belong to Quilta on your device. Deleting a project removes it. Deleting the app removes all of it.

Saving and sharing

When you export, you decide where the result goes:

• Save to Photos writes the exported image into your photo library. On iOS this is add-only: Quilta can put images into your library but cannot browse what is already there.
• Share hands the image to whichever app you pick from your device's share sheet. From that point the receiving app's own privacy policy applies, not ours.

When Quilta uses the network

Quilta goes online for three things. None of them carry your photos, your projects or your exports.

Templates. The Explore page fetches its catalogue and preview images from our storage at assets.quilta.app. Those requests say which version of the app you are running, so a template your version cannot open is not offered to you, and — like any web request — they reveal your IP address to the server that answers. They carry nothing else. There is no account, so there is nothing for those requests to be attached to.

Fonts. The caption typefaces offered in the carousel editor come from the Google Fonts library. When you use a typeface that is not already bundled with the app, Quilta downloads that font file from Google's font servers and stores it on your device so it is not downloaded again. Like any web request, that download tells Google's servers your IP address and basic device information. We do not receive that request or its contents. Diagnostics. Crash reports, and usage analytics if you have turned them on. Both are described in the next section.

Nothing else in Quilta sends data over the network. Your photos, projects and exports are never uploaded.

Diagnostics and analytics

Settings → Privacy has switches for crash reports and usage analytics.

They are independent of each other, and they behave differently on purpose.

Crash reports are on by default. When the app fails, Firebase Crashlytics sends a report describing that failure — the error, where in the app's code it happened, and the device model and operating system version needed to reproduce it. A crash report describes the app's behaviour, not yours. Turning the switch off stops it.

Usage analytics are off by default and stay off until you say otherwise. The app asks once, on first launch, and collects nothing before you answer. If you turn it on, Firebase Analytics records which features get used — a template opened, a project created, an export finished, the paywall shown — from a fixed list of events built into the app, along with whether a Pro subscription is active. It never records your photos, your text, your project contents, or anything that identifies you personally. Turning the switch off stops collection from that moment.

Both are provided by Google Firebase and are tied to an identifier Firebase generates for your installation. That identifier is not your name, your email, or your device's advertising ID, and neither switch is used to track you across other apps or websites. Deleting the app ends it. Google's handling of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Purchases

If you buy Quilta Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple's App Store or Google Play. They handle your payment details; we never see them. All we ever learn is whether an active subscription exists for your store account.

Children

Quilta is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has used the app with usage analytics turned on and you want that stopped, turn the switch off in Settings → Privacy and contact us.

If you are in India: the Digital Personal Data Protection Act treats anyone under 18 as a child. We do not process personal data in the sense that Act is concerned with — there are no accounts and no profiles — but if you have a question about a child's use of the app, contact us.

Your choices

• Remove any project from inside the app.
• Turn the diagnostics switches off in Settings → Privacy.
• Revoke photo access at any time in your device's system settings.
• Delete the app to remove everything it stored.

We hold no account, no profile and no copy of your work, so for those there is nothing to export or erase. For the diagnostics and analytics described above, turning the switches off stops collection, and you can ask us to delete what was already collected. If you are in a region with data-protection rights such as the GDPR, the CCPA or India's DPDP Act, contact us and we will action them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above changes with it, and a material change will be called out in the app's release notes.
